Growing in Jersey City

By V. Garcia March 9, 2017

"Making an impact" has been the theme so far this year at JCMK (Jersey City Macaroni Kid). We have had the opportunity to feature local people and organizations that have made an impact in our community. Growing in Jersey City, is just such a blog and we had the chance to chat with it's creator Jenna Firshein to talk about what this journey has been for her.

It is immediately evident that Jenna is passionate about calling Jersey City home. The Growing in Jersey City page is clean and inviting and has options of people, places, food and what's going on. What I enjoy most about the blog that it is from Jenna's point of view. She is sharing the experiences she has with everyone while giving them information about fun and new things to try in the area.

If you are some one like me you appreciate that perspective. I live here and the day to day can be some what hectic. Often on my commute I think I really need to try that place or maybe I can find a date night spot with out having to travel to NYC? Growing in Jersey City draws a wide variety of readers from all walks of life and has content everyone can enjoy.

Q: How did the blog come about?

A: I moved to the Journal Square area 7 years ago and then to The Heights where I became a member of the Riverview Neighborhood Organization and became active in sharing all the area has to offer.

Q: What is coming up next at Growing in Jersey City?

A: The next wave of inspiration is coming from the Bergen Hill- Lafayette neighborhood. The area is going through a revitalization and transition and so many things are happening in the area its really exciting. Growing in Jersey City is going to dedicate some time to visiting different businesses in the area and share it with their readers.

Q: What else can be found on the site?

A: I  have contributors that write wonderful pieces. The content also includes buying local goods, exercise venues for kids and great places to eat and drink for adults.

"Growing in Jersey City" is a force and not to be missed.

We are so thankful to Jenna for being such a proud resident of Jersey City. Her joy and creativity is contagious. We want to thank her for taking the time to chat with us and for sharing "Growing in Jersey City" with us. Jenna knows that everyone has a story and that putting those stories out there for everyone to read is so important.
